Madrid, Spain

I lived in Madrid, Spain from 2011-2013. I moved to Madrid to complete my M.A. at New York University, and accepted a year-long appointment as an English teacher after graduating.

I received my M.A. from New York University in Spanish Literary & Cultural Studies. My Master’s thesis explored the urban expansions undertaken in Madrid and Barcelona at the turn of the twentieth century to argue that each manifested modernity in distinct physical and ideological ways (directed by Dr. María López).

For the academic year 2012-13, I worked as an English language teaching assistant for UCETAM, a private co-op of bilingual schools. I taught science in English to students ages 2-18 in tandem with the Spanish language curriculum.
